What ducks are these?

Thanks.  I've never seen goldeneyes and it took me a while to remember them.  But I thought they had white facial patches.  Is that just a breeding season thing, or adults vs. juveniles / immatures?

Females don’t have the patches.

Look like Barrow's to me with their head shape, especially the steep forehead that @RobinHoodmentioned already. And it looks like there's a local year round population you have there if I'm understanding the geography correctly (map from Sibley).
