Birds are cool
Share your favorite birding books. I have read many, and I am running out of good books. A photographic list of some. Kingbird Highway, and Jennifer Ackerman's books are my favorite.
Birds are cool
The Narrow Edge is about Red Knot migration. It is also a great read.
IKLland
I have multiple field guides, but my favorite birding books are the books on local bird distribution. I have many California bird distribution books that are really great.
Charlie Spencer
I'm reading Ackerman's 'The Bird Way' during lunches. I enjoy it for the most part but I find her a bit dry at times.

Birds are cool
Has anybody read the book Hope Is The Thing With Feathers By Christopher Cokinos? I would highly recommend it. It is about some of the United States most recently extinct birds. The Carolina Parakeet, the Ivory Billed Woodpecker, the Heath Hen, the Labrador Duck, and the Great Auk. Down below is a link to the book if anybody is interested. https://www.amazon.com/Hope-Thing-Feathers-Personal-Chronicle/dp/1585427225/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?crid=2ZWZ1A31563V5&keywords=christopher+cokinos&qid=1660142841&sprefix=christophet+cokinos%2Caps%2C156&sr=8-3

If it's the one I'm thinking of, it was primarily a beginning birders book. Based on your responses here, it may not provide much you haven't already learned. I can confirm because if this is the same book I'm thinking of, I gave it away to a beginner last year.

Ya know, that's the kind of question you might ask BEFORE you place your orders. Did you order these as physical books or e-books? I'd like to hear from others who have ordered material in e-book format and what they thought. Edited August 28, 2022 by Charlie Spencer

Anything with pictures and it falls short. I bought "Better Birding..." by Armistead and Sullivan and had to buy the hard copy. Even on iPad it was impossible to read when you want to reference pictures the text is talking about. Something like Big Year, or Birding without Borders are fine for eBook. My rule for books now is reference books are hard copy; non-fiction that tells a story or fiction books are eBook.

It’s interesting to read about the various spots but I wish it was less US focused. 1
