Toronto BlueJay
Hello I was looking through some old vacation photos and spotted some birds that were present on the beach. These were taken in Prince Edward Island on Aug 22, 2008 most likely at Cavendish beach. Are they sanderlings? sandpipers? other? The second one looks to have very distinct black markings on the back of its head. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10155786014240009&type=1&l=dd98f0f169 Thanks in advance
akiley
I'm having trouble seen the pics in that album, despite having a Facebook account. I can only see the tiny thumbnails on my phone here. From what I can tell, looks like (L to R) Sanderling, Semipalmated Sandpiper, and Least Sandpiper. I agree with all. The 3rd photo has light colored legs which points to least.
Toronto BlueJay
Thank you both! It pays off to look at old vacation photos -- two of those were first time sightings for me!
RobinHood
You are so right. The other day I found images of a California Condor and Wood Stork, plus others, in vacation photos from years ago. I am going to do some more digging.
