Sharp Shinned Hawk?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone.  These two pics are pretty bad, but I think this is a Sharp-Shinned Hawk due to the large, abnormal spots on the back, the dark strips on its tail and i believe I see white and brown stripes on its breast feathers.

Habitat: Mixed Forest

Location: Northern Illinois

Photo Taken: Today

Correct, it is an adult Sharp-shinned.  Cooper's is ruled out by the small, rounded head with steep forehead, relatively large eyes, dark "hood," and wide shoulders.
