dragon49
I heard this in the middle of the day, and I thought they were only supposed to be active at night. Merlin picked up part of a similar clip in the same place at the same time as a Barn Owl. It sounds feline to me, like a crying cat. The problem is that I wasn't anywhere near a residential area, and there aren't feral cats in the reserve. If it isn't avian, does anybody have a clue as to what it is? I just checked out some YouTube clips, and that's it. Merlin was in a weird mood yesterday. In addition to thinking the squirrel was a Barn Owl, on 3 occasions, she told me that the sound of my camera's 7-shot burst was a Downy Woodpecker. ? She is a helpful friend, but it's a good thing I have a mind of my own. Edited September 11, 2022 by dragon49

I don't recall ever ascribing a gender to an app.
