Here's week two!  I am definitely getting a little tired of drawing birds...the same way....every day...  Actually, I am a few days behind now. :classic_sad:

These are amazing!  I love that dignified Blue Jay and the bright Goldfinch.  The Shoveler has a distinctive look too.

I thought anyone was allowed to sit down.  I didn't realize there was an approval process.

All of which means, "What are seating auditions?"

Having never played an instrument I assume @Quiscalus quiscula is referring to which order you sit in an orchestra etc. and thus how much you play and how important your part is to the whole. Aka the phrase 'playing second fiddle'

This. It's more common in youth and college orchestras, not really in professional orchestras. You have to play excerpts of the repertoire to an adjudicator who determines your seating. Now, you upload a video of yourself playing the excerpts, partially because of covid, partially to make it a little less stressful. Aiming to be in at least the first three stands of the first violin section, so I've been practicing a lot.

Trying to catch up starting from here. Red-tailed Hawk juvenile (this way I can attribute the uneven wing feathers to molt...). First time trying to draw a bird in flight, and the proportions and markings are so off ?

Wow good job! The wings are really good. How long did it take to draw all those tiny brown lines ?
