RawComposition
I chased the Variegated Flycatcher in Michigan yesterday which got me thinking about my previous Variegated sightings from Brazil and wondering if I identified them correctly https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/91498351 https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/91463351 My thinking is that the bill size/shape and streaking favor Variegated instead of Piratic, but I don't have a lot of confidence in that. Any thoughts on these would be appreciated!
Peromyscus
Based on the illustrations in the 6th edition of the National Geographic Field Guide to the Birds of North America, your photos show Variegated Flycatcher. The bill is longer compared to Piratic and has a pale base, the tail has a fair amount of rufous, the malar stripe is less distinct than Piratic, and the back isn't as dark as Piratic. I would say that the streaking on the underparts is good for Variegated and not good for Piratic.
