Seeing lots of Willets, Dowitchers, and other shorebirds but could not put a positive ID on this one. Could not get a photo with more well-defined leg color. Don’t think Pectoral has that. looks like Pec can according to Sibley app, so I say Pectoral. I've heard from ornithologists on iNat that it's a Dunlin in an alert posture. I'm a mycologist/plant pathologist so what do I know? Well, I know a bit, but I'm not sure about this one. abiggs2 Posted October 21, 2022 Author Share Posted October 21, 2022 You know, I've identified 100's if not 1000's of Dunlins over the years as an International Shorebird Survey leader, but this one just didn't say "Dunlin" to me - perhaps I should apologize for posting such a common bird as an unknown, but I just couldn't see it as that.
