Updating Ultimate or Plus to the New Pro V12

Yesterday Apple Developer Support called us and gave a few ideas on how we might be able to solve the update issue where Ultimate and Plus apps are now frozen and can't be updated. It's a fairly complex procedure that uses a feature of apps called the bundle IDs, and while way too complicated to explain here I'll keep everyone posted on our progress.

That is very good news.  I just got off the phone with Apple and they told me there is nothing they could do with credits for the Pro Version.  I explained to them that the consumer was being squeezed by their arbitrary decision to force Waite Group into revamping their app.  I certainly am pleased to hear that they are providing you a work around to the problem.  My iBird Plus still seems to be working, but look forward to the upgrade.  Thanks for your continued good work with iBird.  Merry Xmas to you and your team.

FYI update we have been able to modified our free iBird Lite so that you can upgrade it to any of our country databases. If you have purchased iBird Plus or iBird Ultimate and they are on your device, iBird Lite will recognize them and the North American database will be free to download. From then on we will continue to update iBird Lite and its databases and you will not have to pay for it. I apologize for how long its taken us to get this working but it's been very difficult to get all the pieces working together. We hope to launch in the next week, baring any last minute glitches, so I can't guarantee this right now. 

We will also be updating iBird Plus, Pro and Ultimate so they will have the latest databases and IAP features, so that you can continue to use them. But per Apple's rules Plus and Ultimate will be frozen and not updated in the future. Again iBird Lite will be your solution to free updates in the future. You'll even be able to change its icon.

so, it's now May 2019 and I'd like to have the latest before i leave for the summer  I am a paid customer of IBird plus and am completely confused by all of this.  Should I just buy iBird Pro and get it over with or am I going to have to do this weird iBird lite connection thing?

Perhaps you can explain iBird Pro’s family sharing. I have it installed on 3 machines: my iPhone, my iPad, my wife’s iPhone and her iPad. The app works on all 4 but the in-app purchases only work on my iPhone. Restore purchases doesn’t work on any of the other units.

I purchased the apps on my iPad (after I had purchased them on my iPhone) and they now work there. I tried to purchase them on my wife’s iPhone and was told to purchase the app (iBird Pro) first. I uninstalled and reinstalled the app with no change  

Obviously, I’m not pleased to have to make additional in-app purchases. I’m even less impressed by being told to purchase a family-shared app to be able to purchase, once again, the in-app items. As a long-term patron of the iBird products, I find these issues to be either a glitch that can be fixed or a way to force additional app purchases under the guise of family sharing. I hope it’s the former.

I have iBird Ultimate with several years of saved, identified photos, backed up to iCloud. If I now purchase PRO, will I be able to import all those photos into PRO?

I’ve read all these posts and am STILL confused. How do I upgrade from iBird Plus to iBird Pro and receive credit for my original purchase? If I install iBird Lite, will it upgrade and/or function the same as iBird Pro?

I've been an iBirder since 2010 (iBird Explorer PRO v1.8.4), and have bought every option, better version (Ultimate), IAP, and accessory app (iBird Journal) since then.

I just downloaded the latest iBird Ultimate update from the App Store, learned about iBird Photo Sleuth, bought that (or thought I did), had problems downloading it on another iDevice, hassled with Apple Support for an hour to no resolution, bought the Photo Sleuth IAP from within iBird Ultimate on my iPhone, had trouble restoring purchases on my iPad's just-updated iBird Ultimate app, and THEN learned that I need to use iBird Lite and somehow turn it into iBird Ultimate with Photo Sleuth, BAM, Percevia, and Time of Day and anything else I forgot to list here.

It didn't work, mostly. iBird Lite shows nothing under the Purchases section. The only Countries database shown is North America (Lite).  I do see BAM and TOD on the Search menu, but Open Sleuth Photo Recognizer sends me to the Purchases page where nothing is displayed other than Restore Purchases, which I have tapped numerous times, seeing that my "Purchases have been restored" every time.

At present I have a fully-functioning-the-way-I-want-it iBird Ultimate with all IAP except Hawaii - that's good.  But the iBird Lite thing ain't working. On any of my iDevices.

Quick update. We are having a problem with getting Apple's new IAP store to work with iBird Lite and in touch with developer support. Hope to have it resolved this week.

Thank you for the announcement that came to my phone with the help link. I'd like to suggest that the latest iBird Lite issue status be copied into the Announcements on the help home page. It took me some ferreting around to find this status at the bottom of the forum thread.
