Thank goodness! For a moment there I thought you were balmy!

Oh, yeah, I know what you're talking about now! Like when you're in a hurry and you just toss your gear on the passenger seat without securing it, and driving along the rough trail causes it to fall on the floor? I just didn't know there was a word for that. Edited February 24 by Charlie Spencer
lonestranger
All this talk about running made me double check to see if I had inadvertently clicked on the Young Birders thread. 😆 I will rush for my camera if a photo opportunity should arise, I'll dash from the van to the house in bad weather, I'll even chase a piece of trash blowing away in the wind, but my knees and I will leave the running for the Young Birders. 1

Most of the time any way, though I did run to get my camera (a short distance) to photograph a snake recently.

Snake Fingers
You might be a birder if you’re thinking this whilst in the dentist with your teeth being operated on: “All those good hotspots must be nearby! Hmmm I wonder if there’s any continuing rarities nearby. I wish I brought my phone, coulda started an eBird checklist…”

Great view of some deciduous trees and shrubs while I'm waiting. Mostly mocks and thrashers. Edited March 7 by Charlie Spencer

Zoroark
Two of my favorite restaurants are eBird hotspots, and it's nice getting a window seat by the trees. I've seen nine species at each of them. You might be a birder if your photographer father doesn't appreciate you stopping to identify birds in a field with no photographic opportunities. 😉

I've submitted from at least five different medical facilities. Two during a family member's ER visit (COVID protocols mandated I wait outside), one during a family member's scheduled operation, three during routine appointments. It's a great way to distract yourself. Edited March 8 by Charlie Spencer 3

IKLland
Anyways, you might be a birder if you almost forget you have a final the next day because you were out until 10pm looking for owls and poorwill.

There are other things to photograph besides birds???? My archives indicate that you can stay at home for weeks, sometimes months, at a time and still end up with nothing but bird photos. 3
