Texas black vultures? 78070 on 12/12/2018

Recommended Posts

The sun was below the horizon when at least three successive groups of vultures flew over the house.  I did not detect any red crops or lighter colored markings on the underside of the wings.  Turkey vultures are a daily sighting but I am of the opinion that these are black vultures.  My 89 year old mother grew up on a ranch near Boerne.  Her great grandfather founded a town in central Texas.  She told me that "when the buzzards fly south you can be sure a cold front is moving in".  Any thoughts?

Thank you both for the confirmation of species identification.  My visual memory is quite good, but I usually employ it in the appreciation of vintage motorcars.
