Snake Fingers
What’s your favorite season for birding?(Including Dry/Wet Season if you have it)(Also some seasons are probably different, temperature wise and such, in different areas) Also, preferably add reasons on why that season is your favorite. My favorite season is spring, for many reasons. 1: temperature, in my opinion spring has the best temp. Not too hot 🥵 but yet still warm.(at least in my area!) 2: bugs, I’m pretty sure there’s not that many bugs in spring. 3: birds, spring has pretty much all the birds of summer, and possibly more. Plus, Spring Migration…
Quiscalus quiscula
I would disagree with the bugs part, as at least here all the black flies, horse flies, and mosquitoes start coming out, but spring is a great season to bird. Unfortunately, the past years I haven't really had time to bird in the spring. Personally, fall is my favorite season for birding. Fall migration brings many waterfowl and warblers my way, and I love the challenge of IDing them in their fall plumage. Also, fall just usually has a kind of nostalgic feel for me; many memories...
Charlie Spencer
Fall, particularly October, but not just for birding. Fall in SC less humid than spring, with much less pollen.
IKLland
I’m in coastal Southern California. Bird-wise: September/October Weather wise: April/May Overall: Spring. Note that September is probably the hottest month of year where I live!
Kevin
The best birding here is certainly in the dry season, being we don't have anything even resembling a wet season. The last two weeks of April is the best birding here, the weather doesn't start hitting triple digits till May, so the weather is really nice. And it is right in the middle of migration for us, so it works out really nice! Right after a big winter storm in Jan/Feb can be really good as well, but the weather is pretty at those times.
Kevin
Bugs aren't too big of a problem in this area, just too dry. Grasshoppers thrive is mas numbers, House Flys can be a problem if your sitting still, or have food, but not a problem for birding. There is a few weeks every year the mosquitoes can be "bad", but they never are terrible here. Now you go down to the coast is the spring....You had better go prepared, because they are coming to get you and fly off with you. I kid you not, I went to a place called Polly Wog pond down at Corpus one year, they were so many, when you would sweep your hand through the air and close it, you came back with a hand full of mosquitoes. I was literally having to blow them off the end of my binoculars. That was the closest thing I ever seen to the swarms you hear about in Alaska and Canada. The weird thing was, I thought I would be totally eaten up when I got back, but there bites never effected me, and I know they were biting me.

Birds are cool
My favorite season for birding is the spring. There are lots of birds to be seen, you can watch birds building nests and taking care of young, and there are lots of birds to add to your year list! Here in middle Georgia, it is fairly nice weather in the spring. Spring is also the best time to spot warblers and shorebirds in Georgia.
Avery
Tennessee: Fall - Sparrow Season (October/November), Ducks Vermont: Winter - Raptors, Irruptives, Ducks Overall, Fall migration is my favorite. It’s slower paced, but things are more likely to stick. Spring is a fun challenge since things are moving with a mission, but fall allows for more chasing, and planning/persistence for results. Come to the coastal Carolinas. They're so thick they have air traffic controllers.
Peromyscus
May/mid-spring is my favorite season. It's generally neither too cold nor too hot. And all the birds are in breeding plumage and singing away.
The Bird Nuts
Spring is my favorite birding season here in Vermont and my favorite time all around. Early- to mid-May is when the weather is perfect, the trees haven't fully leafed out yet, and migration is in full swing. Bugs are not a big problem at my house.
Aaron
May and June for the reasons other have mentioned (migration, more interesting behaviours) but also because there’s lots of other non-bird life too. Plants are usually flowering so it usually smells and looks nice and the whole environment is much more alive and vibrant than the summer, fall, and winter. The sun also rises a lot earlier (~5 am) so I can generally be out and about for quite a while before I see or hear another person/cars etc. Getting closer to fall and into the winter, the sun rises much later so you can’t go birding without already being well into the hustle and bustle of the day.

Zoroark
Here in Las Vegas, I bird the most in the winter. It gets chilly but doesn't snow, and bodies of water are full of waterfowl. Late winter into early spring is nice to catch migrants before it gets way too hot, and it stays sweltering until the fall migration is mostly over. Even the mountains are hot during July and August.

Sorry everyone. This another example where reporting the post(which I've already done) would be better than tagging the Mods and asking for assistance. When I reported the post I suggested that they edit the post for you, there's no need to have the post deleted. Just make sure you don't duck up again. 😉

Mine does sometimes, changing actual words to words I normally use. Also side note: autocorrect recognizes like at least 99% of bird family names like Gallinule, which I think is pretty cool. Mine changes actual words too, but it also has trouble figuring out whether I'm writing in English or Spanish so that could be part of it.
