Zoroark
It's been a bizarre year weather-wise. It's mid-June, and there's still snow on the mountain. We normally get our first taste of desert summer at the start of June, but instead it has been mild and humid. It looks like the heat is coming next week. IKLland
Here, it’s overcast every day right now and sometimes cleared by 1pm, often it doesn’t clear at all. In my 4 years of living in California, this is definitely the coldest, cloudiest, wettest year yet.

Kevin
It's down to 111... Can we get a 20 degree discount because it is three of the same digit? 1
Charlie Spencer
You know its warm and humid when you bring your binos out to the deck and the lenses immediately fog up.
The Bird Nuts
Boy, oh boy, have we been having insane weather. It rained almost nonstop for two weeks. Vermont has had lots of flooding, some areas worse than during Hurricane Irene. This a frame from a video I got of lighting striking upwards over a rainbow with a greenish-yellow evening sky. 13

Kevin
1 hour ago, The Bird Nuts said: flooding "Flooding"? That's a new word to me, what does it mean? Google says it is were water covers normally dry land, so is that were it rains really hard and water runs down the creeks? Seriously though, I hope y'all are okay and not in danger from flooding or the rough weather.

We're good so far, although there is still rain and thunderstorms in the forecast. The last big storm didn't hit this side of Vermont as hard apparently. Very glad we patched the hole in the roof during the drought!
Birds are cool
NY is getting a lot of rain too, but nowhere near as much as Vermont! My father and I went for a five mile run and it started pouring about 5 minutes into our run. We couldn't see 25 feet ahead of us it was pouring so hard!
Zoroark
I hope the folks here in southern California (especially along the coast) stay safe with Hurricane Hilary on its way. https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/graphics_ep4.shtml?start Up here in Vegas, there's a lot of rain and potential flooding predicted.

We should be fine along the coast, the inland counties will get most of the hit. We’ll be carefully scouring for frigatebirds the whole time, that’s for sure.

It's almost a two-hour drive for me (on a work day, nonetheless), but there have been several species of storm-petrel reported here in Clark County, pushed inland by Hilary. Those are both first records for the state. https://ebird.org/alert/summary?sid=SN37165&sortBy=obsDt&o=desc

chipperatl
Why does the southern winds and warm-up happen on the 3 day weekend. No birds coming through!!! Once work starts back up looks like winds shift and the floodgates will open. 1

That's warm even for July (average high is 90). For September, it's rather uncommon to downright rare. Ugh.

Kevin
3 hours ago, Kevin said: As we continue our months without rain Not strictly true anymore. It did "rain" last week, a quarter inch. That is, when it was over there was rain drop marks were a quarter inch apart in the dust.
Avery
https://yaleclimateconnections.org/2023/09/tropical-depression-13-poised-to-become-a-powerful-hurricane/ What could this bring inland? Always a bittersweet thing to see these hurricanes forming. Knowing firsthand how destructive these can be, even inland, is always scary, but I can’t help but get excited about the birds. Charlie Spencer
Out on the deck as TS Ophelia's fading winds bring cool northern air to central SC. I put on long pants for Squirrelbane's morning patrol, the first time I've worn them on a weekend in months. Welcome to Autumn 2023!
