Immature Snow or Snow x Canada?

Recommended Posts

Southern Richland County, central SC.  Jan 21st, 2023.

I briefly saw the bird flying in with Canadas as I approached the pond.  I did not hear it call.  Once it landed, I did not see it leave the water so I don't have foot color.

I reported this as a Snow.  There have been multiple reports of a single Snow at this site for a couple of weeks.  Yesterday someone reported a Snow x.Canada; again, just a single bird.  That's the only checklist so far to describe this as a hybrid, although it's possible the rest of us have been wrong.

Canadas included for size comparison. Opinions, please: Snow or mutt?  Thanks.
