Kevin
We are trying to identify a bird that was sitting in a tree, calmly, in the late afternoon, today, in Palo Pinto, TX. It was robin sized, light brownish/grayish?, small black line running through it's eye, long tail. White or light chest. Here is a photo (sorry its the best we have). The Bird Nuts
Northern Mockingbird? I don't see any wingbars, but that might be due to the photo quality.
egosnell2002
At first I thought Mockingbird (structurally), but pattern wise I'm thinking maybe a thrasher? It's mimid...

TooFly
I agree with @Pigeon. My first impression is Gray Catbird. Even looks like it has the dark cap and wings down to side.

RobinHood
Kevin - can you elaborate on the Mockingbird conclusion - I was firmly in the Catbird camp - enquiring minds need to know!!
The Bird Nuts
Yeah, I agree the bird in the photo doesn't appear to match the description. @Kevin, is it possible that is a different bird than the one you described?

Lol...I must not have read the description ??♂️??. The bird description given sounds exactly like a northern mockingbird...the photo, still looks like a Catbird to me?!?!? #theworldwillneverknow
RobinHood
Hmmmm, I may be changing my mind, or maybe not - no hint of a rufous undertail, but still looks very gray. I give up!!!
The Bird Nuts
Well, both BN #2 and I agree that the shape seems wrong for catbird and better for mockingbird (smallish head and longer tail), but the color does seem off for a mockingbird (or thrasher). It is a very distant photo, though, so the colors are probably not very accurate.
Kevin
Yes, he did have wingbars. He did not have a black cap head just a eye line. I think the colors are off. My camera photo is pretty bad, I know. Sorry I was slow to respond.
