Birdwatcher
So I am positive this is a hawk-the whistle, not the other bird. But which type is it? Hope the recording is good-its a secondary recording😝; from camera to computer, so I hope you can hear good enough Recording.m4a Edited February 17 by Birdwatcher

Birdwatcher
Quote Avery-That’s a Blue Jay. No...really? I am so sure it's a type of hawk. Like you sure?

It’s either a Blue Jay or a Mockingbird imitating a Blue Jay, but I’d need a better recording to be sure. Also a Carolina Wren in the background. What kind of hawk are you thinking it is? Maybe I could help describe how it’s different. Edited February 17 by Avery

If I know there are jays in the area, I won't count a hawk on call alone.
Quiscalus quiscula
Yes, it's a Blue Jay. They are pretty convincing in their mimicry, I've been fooled a couple times, but their are differences in timbre.

Half the time I can't tell if it's a Blue Jay or a Red-shouldered Hawk!

I've watched a Blue Jay look over its shoulder after giving its Red-shoulder call, as if it was thinking "did I rile up any birds?" 2
