Spring has definitely started to stir the air a little. All the passerines around my place were singing this morning. First time I've heard EABL or SOSP sing in a while.

Forgot about that, lots of the resident passerines around me have started singing.

I have a pair of Eastern Phoebe that have started nesting, a pair of Eurasian Collared Doves that have started singing, a pair of Loggerhead Shrikes that have started courtship behavior, and the Northern Mockingbirds are being very territorial (more so than normal.) The Eastern Meadowlarks never stop singing anymore! It's crazy!

I still have all of the usual winter visitors here. The insane winter for American Robins here in SoCal continues. Has anyone else noticed above average(and here, it’s WAY above average) numbers of American Robins this winter?

Yes!   We have definitely noticed high numbers of Americans Robins here in southwest Alabama this year.  My sister across the bay in Mobile county--who is not a birder--even noticed.

Common Grackles are moving through my neighborhood. From our house, we heard Canada Geese flying north this morning. I think some Turkey Vultures are heading north too. Carolina Wrens and House Finches are singing. Snowdrops, Daffodils, even Star Magnolias and early cherries are blooming.

I have had two NOMOs arriving at the feeders, tolerating each other within a couple of feet, and leaving around the same time.  I can only conclude they're a mated pair.

I had a couple of large flocks of Red-wingeds today, almost all of the birds being females.

I remember about 4 years ago there were a bunch of American Robins. The past two years I saw a couple hundred robins at most. This year I saw over 600 robins on three different days! I have definitely noticed above average numbers of robins this winter. I have also noticed much larger numbers of WTSP in the winter, but they left much earlier this year.

House finches and chickadees have been singing for a week or two now. Woodpeckers have started drumming, but not really that common yet. Magpies have been doing their weird mating rituals for a few weeks as well.

No migrants yet, and all of our winter species are still here.
Typically our first gulls come at the end of February so they could show up any day this week, but the temperature is taking a nose dive after tomorrow so might not get anything until March.

As far as migrants go, Tree Swallows are back in eastern Sacramento county, and I had my first Violet-greens a couple days ago. There's also a big push of Brown-headed Cowbirds moving through the area right now. I've also been seeing Sandhill Cranes overhead a fair amount.

Lots of birds singing to, Mockingbirds, all the goldfinch, Robins, Junco and the other Sparrows, magpies, and doves. Anna's Hummingbirds are nest building, if they aren't already on nests.
