TexasCobra
I thought from the silhouette that this was a Mockingbird. Further image processing leads me to believe it is a Woodhouse's Scrub-jay. Please confirm.

TexasCobra
Thanks for the confirmation. I am a photographer and amateur race car driver. In the 1970's I was a varsity springboard diver. I am not a birder, but visual acuity is essential to me. My ophthalmologist said I have "awesome eyes" particularly in reference to peripheral vision and in response to stimuli. In this case the strong backlight made it impossible to distinguish the color markings on the bird. Can you tell me why the WhatBird website absurdly prohibits the words referring to post high school educational institutions?

What exactly does it prohibit? I'm not aware of the website banning any words.

Do to a sever spammer issue(sometimes 40-60 a day), that we couldn't seem to stop, a block was added to Chinese carracters. Also being that this particular spammer was advertising something to do with universities and colleges, somethigs along those lines may be blocked as well. I didn't think so, but maybe. Are you sure it is not just an issue on your end?

You use the word "univer-sity" and the word "col-lege" when whatbird and only whatbird prohibits me from posting a message using those words.
Avery
Seconding @TexasCobra lack of being able to use those terms. I bet it’s that admins can use them. I can’t really see it being a problem on this site, except if any birds are seen on a campus.

As @Kevin pointed out, the heaviest spammers use univer-sity and col-lege names in their spam so the programmers may have added a filter that is triggered when you use those words in certain combinations. Just speculating of course. Testing... Texas Univer-sity Univer-sity of Texas Texas Col-lege Col-lege of Texas Testing confirms that it's not just on @TexasCobra's end. I get flagged for those words and have added a - to all highlighted words so I can post. Unfortunately, your content contains terms that we do not allow. Please edit your content to remove the highlighted words below.
aveschapinas
Yes, some key words were also set to be screened to get rid of the spammers. I haven't posted details becasue I don't want to give the spammers instructions on how to get around this (which I'm sure they will do eventually). It's good to know you get a message instead of just being banned. The good news: it's working and Kevin and I are no longer deleting dozens of spams a day, and you guys don't have to see them anymore. The bad news: I'm sorry that we have to put some (minor, I hope) limits on your posts. Thank you everyone for your patience and understanding. Solutions: abbeviations are your friends! Share other ideas too. Now I'm going to do an experiment... Univ. (I'm not allowed to use the key words either.)

I think it's because they were used in the plural - universities, colleges

I dislike it when non-bakers say just the last name 'Cupcake' without specifying what type. That doesn't keep me from eating the cupcake anyway. Incidentally, 'Snickerdoodle Cupcakes' would be an excellent Drag Queen name. Edited February 22 by Charlie Spencer
