Will migration be early?

We will be traveling from Maine to Coastal Texas sometime between mid-March and mid-April and are wondering if you expect spring migration to be early this year or if this should be a good time to visit.  Thanks for any thoughts you can offer!

If you can, I would suggest pushing your trip to mid April, rather than coming earlier. Migration really picks up for the last two weeks in April, it is the best time to hit the Texas coast.

Welcome to Whatbird @ME Birder. If spring comes early and the plants and insects emerge early, I think it's safe to expect the birds that feed on those plants and insects to show up early. Many migrants follow the food supply, not the calendar, so migration may happen sooner during an early spring. Just speculation on my part, I don't monitor migration but it makes sense to me that migration could be influenced by the weather.

Thank you everybody for all your replies.  This has been very helpful.  We've firmed up our travel plans and are now hoping to arrive on the Texas coast around the end of March.  While not peak season, it sounds like we should see plenty of birds moving through.  Thanks again, ~ Maine Birder

I'll reference @Snake Fingers original response.  It's coastal Texas; some times may be better than others but there are no bad times.
