JBAS
Hello, all! Was wondering if there are any R6 users who can answer a quick question: How much do you get out of the R6's factory (LP-E6NH) battery? I've made the decision to go in on an R6 and am ordering a full new kit around it, but am not sure how many batteries I should invest in. Obviously there are variables to battery life, but how many batteries would you want for a 4-8 hour day of shooting (photos with the occasional short video)? Would one or two fully charged batts be plenty? I have no experience with mirrorless cameras and have been unable to find any remarks on typical battery life in reviews or question boards. Cheers! IKLland
I don’t think anyone on here uses an R6, but I’d suggest posting here. Go to the canon forum. https://m.dpreview.com 1

I use the R6 and have no problem with the LP-E6NH battery. I don't use my LCD display for anything more than menu adjustments though, I use the viewfinder to quickly review photos instead of the LCD display. Fortunately I have LP-E6 batteries from older Canon cameras to use as my backup batteries. The LP-E6NH batteries are needed to maximize shooting speeds/frames per second, but the LP-E6 still works with just a few less frames per second. As for 4-8 hours of shooting, I'd probably take a spare battery with me but wouldn't really expect to need it. I just checked my battery info and my current charge has taken 207 shutter counts and the battery is still at 76%. Again, I don't use the LCD display and seldom take videos, so my experience with battery life may not be a good comparison, but I'd think one spare battery should be plenty for a day out. 3

Awesome information, thank you! I stick to the viewfinder as well and shoot little video, so that is perfect.
