redcoot
Hello all! I photographed this bird in Altadena, California today, and I am not sure what it is. Merlin ID app suggests a Pine Warbler, but those would be rare here based on my sibley's guide. Yellow-rumped was my first thought, but the colors don't seem dark enough. I live in Hawaii, and have very little experience with these passerines. Thanks in advance and happy holidays!
Melierax
Agree with Yellow-rump. Probably female or immature male.
akiley
I'm torn between Pine and Yellow-rumped here. I'm leaning towards Pine with the overall coloring and the thick black bill.
Bird Brain
Yellow-rumped for me too. Looks just like the one I have hanging around my yard feeding on the suet. I really wouldn't expect to see a Pine Warbler out here in Calif. anyhow. 1
Ken Burton
Absolutely this is Audubon's form of Yellow-rumped.
