Only one I have, from a few years ago. This was taken in Dec. 2012 on a very foggy morning about 30 miles north of Sacramento.

1-Rough-legged Hawk, maybe..Shrike, maybe 12-11-2012 021

Since you mention it was a foggy morning, I decided to edit this. If you don’t want it up, I’ll have @Kevin or @aveschapinasdelete it. Not embedded from anywhere, so whatbird degraded its quality.

I wasn’t sure if @Bird Brain will be OK with me desiring his photo and having it posted. If he comes back on and doesn’t want it up, you can delete the edited version that I posted.

I don't really having any problem with the edited photo being up. I take photos for identification of birds, mostly. I edit my photos only to the extent of being able to ID better. Of course I do like to take the best photos I can for my own satisfaction. I'm not into ratings, "improving" photos, etc. I'm not into posting better, much less the best, photos on the site.

Having said that, I do think it would be a matter of respect to ask anyone if they minded their photos being edited before doing so and reposting them. No hard feelings, @IKLland. It did improve the quality of the photo, that's just not my purpose for posting here.

OK, thanks! I didn't read enough to figure out exactly what happened, sorry! I do agree with you about editing (or posting) other people's photos.

One of my favorite hawks.

Unfortunately, I like never see them. Ever.

If you get the chance to visit Colorado in the winter they aren't exactly abundant but are common enough. Also my favorite hawk but they do not come to Florida where I am now at all. I miss them.

Saw them regularly on the plains of Colorado in the winter when I lived there. They do not come to Florida at all where I live now. I have a bunch of photos but none (at least in the easy ones to find) are super good. They are my favorite hawk good looking and easy to identify. I even have photos of a Dark Morph. Terrible photos but photos none the less. Here is the one I choose to post here:

I hope it is okay for me to play a little catch up in light of all the trouble with the site lately. I have just now been able to get back on and then had to do it in an irregular way. Common Raven with an uncommon view on top of the World-

Love Roughies!  The only hawk with a dark morph here.  Wish I had a better photo of a dark morph.

Same! I have a few photos of the same dark morph but they are terrible. I only recall ever having seen two in Colorado when I lived there. Saw many more dark morphs of other hawk species in Colorado.

Heyyyyy Clip!! Good to see you on here again!

Yeah, I'm supposed to be in Montana, Wyoming, AND Colorado this winter so there's actually a pretty good chance.

Awesome! If you are driving from Kansas into Colorado you just may see them from the highway on the Eastern Plains. Let me know before you go and I'll let you know where I have seen them.
