Share Your Best or Favorite Photo of a Bird Species!

I remember this day.  I stopped by Walmart to pick up some things after a four-hour checklist.  On the way, I ran back to my car to get my camera for this photo, and later submitted the incidental.  Since then, whenever I go back, I always bring my camera and park all the way in the back, so I can get the best checklist on the way inside.  I don't normally share these short checklists with not a lot of species:

Awe the Ring-billed Gull so very abundant in Colorado and in all their various cycles. Use to drive me crazy trying to figure them out. Use to drive me even crazier trying to find other gull species amongst them, 999 x out of a 1000 what you thought might be something else turned out to be yet another Ring-billed Gull. Even now am I 100% confident this is a Ring-billed Gull? No! but I am close to that 100% percent mark. Colorado taught me well. Here in Florida it is the Laughing Gull that is oh so very abundant. I have no trouble iding them in all their various cycles. Did Colorado's Ring-billed Gulls teach me well and make it easier for me to id Laughing Gulls or are Laughing Gulls just easier. I think the later.

(as a side note could I pick out one Franklin's Gull out of 50 Laughing Gulls? Not sure but I haven't found any Franklin's in Florida yet)

Another aside do I know what cycle this bird is in-NO!

I cannot go to Wally, Lowe's, or other 'big box' retailers without driving around back by the retention ponds.  If my Darling Bride isn't along, I'll park and break out the binos.

I got completely fooled by a bird in a pond like that.  I saw what looked like a cormorant standing on the back of a goose.  I spent so much time trying to get close and better shots until eventually it dawned on me that the goose was a plastic decoy...good thing I was around the back and out of sight of most people.  I can't find the picture now but I did upload it on WhatBird back before the site went down
