Good morning, Whatbirders!  Double-dipping and hopefully covering most of you, this week's birds are

Screech-Owls, Eastern or Western

This is discrimination against us poor beings not lucky enough to see owls! 😠😠😛

Baja re-shanked Screech Owl

Cuban bare-legged Screech Owl

Pacific Screech Owl

That's nice but I specifically said Eastern or Western.  The Pacific wasn't invited at all, much less exempted from the 'one photo per species' policy.

One of my biggest nemesis.

Western Screech Owl is most definitely my biggest nemesis. There's a couple of known roosts spots at a park I bird at least once a month and I've still yet to see one.

What're the thoughts on recordings for this thread? Just curious because I've never actually seen a Western Screech-Owl in person before, but I've heard them many times and have some recordings I've taken.

Well, the title says “photo”, and I don’t think @Kevin or @Charlie Spencerwould like to change that.

Don't look at me, I'm not in charge of this thread anymore, at least not more than the general forum rules are concerned.

When I give someone something it comes with no strings attached.

Have you tried going to this park at dusk? Do you have any other information on the specific location in the park? Both will help you in your quest if you can say yes.

Eastern (I think).  I saw this guy on a nature walk place in Florida and I was hardpressed deciding if it was a real bird or not (I had recently been duped by a decoy).  He was motionless and I couldn't tell if it was moving his eyes as I walked around it.  I went back a while later and the box was home to a hive of bees, but the owl wasn't there anymore so my conclusion was that the bird was real.  Came back yet again later and the entire box was gone.
