Aidan B
What're the thoughts on recordings for this thread? Just curious because I've never actually seen a Western Screech-Owl in person before, but I've heard them many times and have some recordings I've taken. https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/402460941

Don't look at me, I'm not in charge of this thread anymore, at least not more than the general forum rules are concerned. When I give someone something it comes with no strings attached. Do you have any other information on the specific location in the park? Both will help you in your quest if you can say yes.

Actually, I've been thinking about recordings lately. I think they're important tools and should be encouraged. I plan to add them but I want to figure out a good approach first.

MacMe
Eastern (I think). I saw this guy on a nature walk place in Florida and I was hardpressed deciding if it was a real bird or not (I had recently been duped by a decoy). He was motionless and I couldn't tell if it was moving his eyes as I walked around it. I went back a while later and the box was home to a hive of bees, but the owl wasn't there anymore so my conclusion was that the bird was real. Came back yet again later and the entire box was gone.
