After a jolly good pop-round to England, I'm ready to see more photos of birds you blokes have had a proper look at! Okay, enough of that crud. Let's go right up the center of the country for this week's bird, Dickcissel! Cheerio! Thank you for doing this! And also for keeping your bird of the week posts interesting and generally humorous! Usually puts a smile on my face! 1

Clip
I have only seen a handful of these all in Colorado. Florida where I live now does get them but they are rare and only passing through. I haven't seen one here yet.

Charlie Spencer
Good morning, Whatbirders! I suspect this bird is rarely photographed, but it is widespread so most of us have a chance. If you have audio, you can link that too. One photo and one audio each. Barn Owl
BigOly
I was at an outdoor tavern in South Africa. I look up and see this Barn Owl looking down on me. I point it out to the bartender while saying "Oh, a Barn Owl". He says with this big grinning African smile, "Oh no, that's our Bar Owl, he eats the mice that come in here after closing". o 9

IKLland
A bird I’ve never had a chance to get good photos of, but I’m fairly happy with this one considering it’s an owl: Here’s my only audio: https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/578408101

dragon49
Not a great photo, but one of the best I have from my only observation. I was lucky to have seen this individual flying around in the middle of the day: https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/529189621 Edited June 11 by dragon49

Clip
I have not seen one in Florida yet. This is one is from 2015 in Colorado. It was seen in one of my favorite places to bird in Colorado: Chico Basin Ranch. This real working ranch allowed birders onto their property for a fee but with pretty much free rein. The bird here was great as the Eastern Plains can be pretty barren of food, water and shelter for birds and others creatures. The ranch had all these things and so became home to many year round birds but also a great lay over for migrants.

RobinHood
My first photo of a Ruddy Duck taken in 2018. They are almost always quite distant.
