Oh my soooo many photos of American White Pelican. I have had the pleasure of seeing these huge magnificent creatures in both Colorado (mostly summer)and Florida (winter). Saw a few in Kansas too. Funny how non-birders don't realize Colorado/Kansas get American White Pelicans. But, they do indeed and in large numbers. I have several good photos of them in both Florida and Colorado showing young, adult, in the air, on the ground, resting, resting with a Brown Pelican in Colorado (not something you see often in Colorado), at sunset, in large numbers... But I decided to go with my favorite. I call it Karate Kid Pelican Style. Photo taken at Cherry Creek State Park in Colorado in 2013.

See, this is why I struggle with even cropping in post-processing.  I try to standardize the process, taking the same minimal steps for each photo, with little regard for or knowledge of artistic creativity.  Probably because I view everything on a monitor with no intention of printing, it wouldn't have occurred to me to use any layout other than Landscape.  Here, the Portrait format emphasizes the vertical stretch of the bird's wingspan.

I'm glad you like the finished product.  My post-processing only involved first the crop with the built-in Windows Photo Editor, and then using my old version of Adobe Photoshop Element's "Auto Smart Fix" feature which generally does a good job of fixing lighting issues.  I didn't rotate the photo.  I just took a picture while the bird was flying across my field of view.

This is not a bird I saw often. In Colorado their territory was a considerable distance from where I lived. I birded the areas fairly regularly but did not always see them. I have very few photos this weeks pick. Taken John Martin Reservoir in Colorado if memory serves.
