smittyone@cox.net
Also photographed yesterday afternoon at DeSoto NWR, IA. Assuming the two larger birds are Semipalmated Sandpipers, what's the smaller bird between them?
Aidan B
The two larger birds are Baird's Sandpipers, and if I'm not wrong, the smaller bird is a very long billed Semipalmated Sandpiper.
smittyone@cox.net
If they are Baird's Sandpipers, this makes only the 2nd time I've seen/photographed them. This other pic is that first time, taken at the same location, but waaay back in April 2018. Can you please verify that this bird is also a Baird's Sandpiper? I’m rusty I belive White-rumped should be more gray, have a different face pattern, and have orange at the base of the lower mandible.
