If they're both the same, is the difference in color due to breeding vs. non-breeding plumage? I have no frontal shots of the bird on the right. The difference is due to molt-the bird on the right hasn’t competed it’s molt into breeding plumage yet, while the bird on the left is close, if not completed it’s molt.
