Taken looking down 50 feet at a pond on a golf course in mid-Michigan today.  The two shots of the bird perched on the reed were taken first, and the shot of the bird on the ground was taken a minute later.  I didn't follow the flight of the first bird as it took off.

Thanks very much.  Never thought I'd see a swallow lying so motionless, or even perched on a reed.  So can I assume that the swallows I see flying around another pond, which is separated from the one on the golf course by a forested geological esker, are also Northern-Rough-winged swallows?

Aslmg as they’re all grayish brown, for the most part, yes. There are multiple other species of swallows in your area.
