Tom_
Have this recording of an Eastern Screech-Owl and I think there might also be a Chickadee calling in the background. Heard this in Philadelphia PA on May 7 2023. 2023-04-07 09_45 (1).wav

(And the Eastern-screech Owl) Huh, weird, this was in a park not too close to any houses and I think owning chickens is illegal in Philadelphia. Tom_
Also can I ask which bird sounds like it's making the "dee dee dee" calls in the background?

Maybe people then? I could've sworn I heard chickens.
Tom_
Just realized I put the wrong date, this was heard April 7 not May 7.
Peromyscus
In Philadelphia it's going to be a Carolina Chickadee in May. eBird maps & bar charts show Carolina as far and away the prevalent chickadee species in May (and indeed, year round). I didn't see this until after I had posted my earlier message. In early April, Carolina Chickadee is also far commoner than Black-capped Chickadee. I realize that, but the Black-capped Chickadee's seemed a little more abundant this year then normal and seemed to stick around a little longer in this area for whatever reason. I remember seeing them reported in Philly, Montgomery, and Bucks County relatively frequently all the way into late April and even early May somewhat. I see that on a time delimited eBird map of the species. Still, for April and May 2023 for Philadelphia County there seem to be 6 spots with Black-capped Chickadee reported, singles each time except for one spot that had 2 birds one time. Carolina Chickadees were reported from many many more eBird hotspots in the county, and many had more than one Carolina reported. 2
