Wendall63
Hi everyone, long time no post. Today a very small greenish-yellow bird was attacking its reflection in our rear window. At first glance I thought it was a hummingbird, but it is slightly larger, but this thing is tiny. Our guess is some sort of flycatcher. These past two years we started seeing several unfamiliar species of birds in our backyard, ever since we let a narrow 20 foot strip of land in our far backyard go wild (inspired by the book The Overstory by Richard Powers). Usually they flit around so fast we can not get a good look, until today. Sorry for the blurry photos, I grabbed the first camera available, otherwise there would be no photo at all. Birds are cool
Looks like either a Western Tanager or American Goldfinch. Western Tanager would be rare, but looks wrong for goldfinch IMO. @DLecy

Wendall63
thanks for your help, everyone! I suppose the diminutive size of the bird should have been a tip-off, but that green shade and upright posture threw us off. We were literally standing about 12" from the bird as it was fluttering against the window. Hopefully next time I will get a better photo, but IMO birds should wear name tags.
