Overflow

Recommended Posts

Got extra photos from your best of the day shots?  Got extra photos for the species of the week?  Got too many photos for a specifically themed thread?  Maybe you've got a few semi-related photos that might be considered off-topic?

Share your overflow photos here.

Why can’t we just use the “sometimes I want friends to see a bird I photographed, no rules” thread for this idea?

There are lots of other threads that could be used for overflow photos, an idea which has been suggested on more than a few occasions. Feel free to use the thread of your choice though, if this thread doesn't find a suitable audience it can fall to the back pages.

I like this idea.

I confess: sometimes I post a photo from previous days in 'Best of the Day'.

I feel no shame.

I've done similar, posting today's AND yesterday's best type thing. I wouldn't feel right posting my best photos from everyday of the week or a 7 photo sequence of great shots all at once in the 'Best photo of the day' thread though, I'd look to other threads in situations like that. My original 'Overflow' idea was to help accommodate the extra photos associated with the 'Species of the week' thread but I thought any extra photos from the other limited/restricted threads could apply here, too.

I have to admit, I was really tempted to call this 'Overflow/Penalty Box' and suggest that Moderators move any violating photos from the 'Species of the week' thread and hide them in the Penalty Box' until after the next week's Species is announced, at which time they'd be unhidden and appear as normal in the Overflow thread. I don't think it's necessary to resort to anything like that though, even if it does sound like a kind of fun way to penalize those that don't want to play by the rules.

Now back to our regular birding program.

I don't have a problem posting photos that are a few days old, or even a few weeks old in the "best of the day thread". But only because I'm just now able to. Like being gone on a trip and not being able to post for a week, to me that's reasonable. What I don't get is people just posting multiple photos from the same day or ancient photos out of their files, to me that's just purposely not following the rules.
