Peromyscus
On 8/24/2023 at 4:22 PM, Peromyscus said: Golden-winged Warbler found in a park a few miles from my house yesterday morning. Yesterday afternoon, the three or four birders there did not see it. One stayed until around 5 pm and saw it; I had gone home maybe 3 hours before then. I did see a nice Blue-winged Warbler though. This morning I returned, and ran into about a dozen birders. None of us found the Golden-winged, but we collectively found an Olive-sided Flycatcher (my second sighting there in less than a week!) and two Least Flycatchers. There were other, more mundane migrants too, like a male Baltimore Oriole. I went back this morning. Still no Golden-winged Warbler. The Olive-sided Flycatcher was present again, as was the male Baltimore Oriole. A Peregrine Falcon flew over, though only one other birder saw it. IKLland
Had 10,000 shearwaters migrating south of San Diego yesterday, it was a seawatch. Mainly Black-vented but a handful of Sooty and Pink-footed as well. Also, had my highest ever numbers of shorebirds yesterday. List is coming soon, once I get those “Arctic” terns figured out.
chipperatl
I didn't realize it had been almost 5 years since my last Baird's Sandpiper, and now I managed a second one this year, yesterday. Also had a really early Red-shouldered Hawk, my first August record of one.

Yeah, GA hasn't had Baird's in a couple years, and there are multiple birds that we might go chase now.(my father and I.)

Peromyscus
And today I visited the nesting Mississippi Kites in Rockville, Maryland. There is a juvenile in the nest. This is the pair's second attempt, as I heard that the first one failed due to crow predation earlier in the summer.
Quiscalus quiscula
Been seeing Blue Jays migrating, and a Great Egret. I still haven't seen any migratory warblers.
IKLland
Over the last few days I’ve had my FOF Wilson’s Warblers, Nashville Warbler, and Townsend’s Warbler(pretty early). Migrants are starting to trickle through here but it’s still very slow.

Birding Boy
The floodgates have opened in the east, with cool temperatures flooding in bringing in tons of migrants. I haven't (and won't) be able to bird much due to scholarly obligations, but I had to take a while tonight to document a spectacular nocturnal thrush flight. eBird Checklist - 7 Sep 2023 - Michigan Technological niversity campus - 8 species (+3 other taxa)

The only time I've heard early nocturnal movements like that is when I was in Texas with Dickcissel. That would explain all the SWTH I heard this morning.
chipperatl
2.3M birds passed through last night…and it didn’t seem like a whole lot of them stayed. It was nice for 45 minutes, then over an hour with no warblers.
