Laughing vs Franklin's Gull.

Recommended Posts

Seen around three weeks ago at the Salton Sea. I have no experience with this ID, and very little experience with either species. Leaning towards Franklin's on this bird, even though they're quite rare around this date. I'm probably overthinking this though. Laughing Gulls were everywhere.

Looks good for Franklin's. Those eye arcs look very broad, and spots on the wing tips are larger than a Laughing Gulls would be. Laughing Gulls also would have more extensive black under the wing. Looks pretty small-billed as well.

Agreed
