Seen at Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge last week...saw and photographed other American Black Ducks nearby but because this photo is so dark, and because I have  never gotten to see them before, I am looking for confirmation. Wish the day had not been so dark with birds so far away; it is a funny shot and with the visible band, I would have liked to see it all better. Thanks for any help!

Looks like the banded one didn't want his picture taken. Maybe he was somewhere he wasn't supposed to be!! :classic_dry:

Maybe just on his phone..."Honey would you stop on the way home and pick up some kelp and a dozen mollusks?"

Thanks all, American Black Duck will continue to be my best guess! And I am laughing all the way to my list...great duck dialogue!

Does anyone even band mallards? :classic_laugh:

I assume that this was in jest, because Mallard may well be the most-frequently banded/ringed species of bird in the world.
