jmacmetro
Hi All, I saw this bird in Bergen County, NJ last week and I'm not sure if it is a bright Warbling Vireo or a Philadelphia. I've gotten both opinions from birders. Thanks
IKLland
The second photo is a different bird. That one’s a Tennessee Warbler. Not sure about the first one, I’d have to look at it on my larger screen.
Avery
I would lean towards a bright Warbling, since the lores aren't darker than the post ocular stripe in that profile shot. Edit: seconding @IKLland's observation of the second bird being a TEWA Edited September 5 by Avery
jmacmetro
Wow, thanks! They were both in the same bush at the same time. Interesting!
jmacmetro
now that you say the second bird is a TEWA, I took a look at another pic of it and that probably confirms that. Thanks
Peromyscus
Welcome to Whatbird, jmacmetro! Please feel free to ask about any bird that puzzles you. I agree with the identifications from IKLland and Avery.

blackburnian
I’m not convinced the vireo isn’t a Philly, any other shots?
Birding Boy
Looks fine for a pretty classic Philly to me

Quiscalus quiscula
My initial impression was Philadelphia, but looking closer I'm not so sure. The yellow seems like more of a wash and the facial pattern seems strong but is still giving me more Warbling vibes from the face alone. Philadelphias should have the yellow brightest on the throat, but this bird seems to have yellow brightest on the sides, and I'm not sure how much of the yellow on this bird is coming from leaf reflection. I'm leaning toward Warbling on this one but it would be good to see more photos if possible.

I have been duped by strongly marked WAVI before, like this bird (https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/577164451) and only after long discussions with other birders we decided this bird was a WAVI.
