In the first photo, there is a silhouette effect that makes the leg and beak appear much darker. The second photo, on the other hand, doesn't look that far off from the coloring of this juvenile Little Blue. You're probably right, I'm just playing Devil's advocate. On the second photo, notice the black comes much further toward the base of the bill than your LBHE.
