Kittipaws
S. WI today, country. This is the luck of the inexperienced birder 😕. I feel like it's probably identifiable to you pros.
Greyhawk
I'm going to keep saying Bay Breasted Warbler until I'm wrong. Apparently they're sweeping the northern part of the country. ☺️
gpoole
I think I see an orange foot, so Blackpoll for me.

I can't really make out the orange in the feet, but the dark streaks in the shoulders and breast may fit Blackpoll better as well.
Kittipaws
Oh I forgot, there was actually a Blackpoll at pretty much the same time, same tree as this bird. I knew it wasn't the same bird because Blackpoll had just had a bath and was dripping wet just moments before I got these ^ shots.
Kittipaws
The photo in my camera looks much more like black legs especially compared to the orange legs/feet of the Blackpoll that I was speaking of.

Aidan B
Why wouldn't this be a Blackburnian?

Avery
@Aidan B @DLecy Blackburnian was my second thought, it’s just the lack of dark auricular or that signature triangle.

You can't see the head on the bird in question. There is a comparison photo of a Blackpoll from the same spot that might be causing confusion here.

My bad!
gpoole
I won't be doubting you folks. Blackburnian it is. I find that if I attempt an ID on this site and I am wrong, (which I often am) the field marks that are given for the correct identification tend to sink in and stick. If we don't make it clear why we chose a species, ask for reasons. We've sometimes gone down a few wrong trails and a dozen posts before getting a resolution. 4
