Semipalmated Sandpipers? Sodus Bay (Lake Ontario) NY 5/23/24

Not necessarily ... Semipalmated Sandpiper "Typically shows relatively short, blunt-tipped bill, but this varies across the breeding range: western populations are shortest-billed, eastern populations are longest, and females have longer bills than males!" This is from https://ebird.org/species/semsan. Both of these birds could be Semipalmated Sandpiper, looking at their plumage.

eBird shows one May Western Sandpiper record around Lake Ontario in the past 10 years, and that is in Ontario. The only May Westerns in New York state in the same period are from Long Island.
