Black turnstone vs Ruddy turnstone?

This is a distance away and blurry, but these birds have yellow legs and little spotted bellies so I am thinking possibly surfbird?  Any ideas?  This was taken today at Pacific Grove beach, California.

If you’re talking about the smaller birds on top of the rock, and not the full ?? Then I like surfboards based on your additional deaceiption and their distinguishable attributes.

They look like Surfbird. You can see that they have a thick bill, and yellow legs, which distinguishes them from BLTU, even at a distance.

surfboard? I thought we were talking about birds, but if surfing is your thing than, don’t let me stop you. Also surfboards do have many attributes notably that They like water and that they have fins, meaning they are more closely related to a fish than a bird.

I don't think surfboards can be differentiated by species.  Technically they're sorted by brand.

Agree with Surfbirds.  Saw them last year on business trip to San Fran and was surprised at how big/chunky they are... never had a need to look them up prior..
