Landscapes

I think it's important to stress the some in that sentence. I lived in northern New Jersey for 5 years, and a lot of the state has some really great natural scenery, however most peoples impression of the state is the industrial area right outside of NYC on the side of 95.

Totally agree. Lived here for 63 years myself and it's a beautiful state. Like you said a lot of people just see the northern Turnpike area & assume the whole state is like that. Even in the industrial areas you can find beauty (and lots of good birds) if you take the time to look. I live near The Meadowlands & do get sad sometimes though when I imagine what it must have been like before people got a hold of it. But if anyone here is visiting the state & wants to see what it's really like I'd be happy to give a tour.
