The Bird Nuts
The dark, very dense streaking, smaller head in proportion to the body, and long, thin bill makes this a Red-winged Blackbird. RustyE
With the streaking and the whitish line over the eye, I would Agree with Bird Nuts. (Female) Edited February 9, 2019 by RustyE

I was probably birding a couple years before I realized what the females really looked like. Seeing stuff in books, or even in flocks is one thing. Finding one by itself kind of causes you to not think of a flocking bird. Lots of mistakes to be made. Sometimes that's how some of us learn.
