Help with Possible Sparrow - East Texas (Tyler)

Still struggling with sparrows, which I think this is. Your help with ID is appreciated. Seen today in East Texas (Tyler).

The dark, very dense streaking, smaller head in proportion to the body, and long, thin bill makes this a Red-winged Blackbird.

With the streaking and the whitish line over the eye, I would Agree with Bird Nuts. (Female)

I was probably birding a couple years before I realized what the females really looked like. Seeing stuff in books, or even in flocks is one thing. Finding one by itself kind of causes you to not think of a flocking bird.
Lots of mistakes to be made. Sometimes that's how some of us learn.
