mls60442
Took this photo in Manhattan, Illinois (Northeastern Illinois, South Chicago Suburbs) today. I'm thinking Cooper's Hawk, but then the head makes me think Sharp-shinned. I've never been great at identifying these species.
RustyE
I would say it's a Cooper's. Reason for my ID is, the cap is dark but the nape is not. Also it looks as though the White Band at the end of the tail is large enough to make me think Cooper's.
mls60442
Okay, thank you for the help. Yeah, I initially thought Cooper's, but again, I am terrible at ID'ing these.
meghann
Another vote confirming Cooper's, to help you feel more confident about it! ?
