Hi! This bird was seen on January 6th, 2019 in Altadena, California. I'm thinking that it's a goldfinch, but I'm unsure of which kind. There seems to be a lack of streaking on the belly, pointing to an American? Is there a good rule of thumb for goldfinches?20190106131951-min.thumb.JPG.97a3e420e2d690a277718c057b6aa6c6.JPG

Thanks in advance!

I figured this one would have been answered more quickly. I'd expect more yellow on the breast for a lesser... I'm not an expert on any birds and sometimes just seeing something from a certain angle leaves out enough detail that I can end up WAY off...
But it looks like an American goldfinch to me. Hopefully someone else will say something about it...
