?First Winter Ring-Billed Gull

Recommended Posts

Are the First, Second, etc. Winter/Cycle birds all considered Juveniles or is Juvenile reserved specifically for the first year birds?  Is "Cycle" preferable to "Winter"?

I don't have the ambition or motivation(or whatever it is) to strive to get ALL those details learned so quickly...(I'm learning, just not taking the advanced course HA) so, I applaud these questions and eagerness to learn.  👍 <-- wow that's a lame thumbs up...

That's a bit complicated. Cycle and winter are technically different things, but refer to the same thing in this case. Juvenile is a specific, fresh plumage that a gull keeps for it's first few months.

I would recommend checking out the new book, Gulls Simplified.
