SamT
Saw this individual in Half Moon Bay, California. I think this is an Iceland Gull, though I am stuck on the subspecies. The coloration suggests an immature Kumlien's, though the primaries and tertials are darker than that of Kumlien's. Thank you for your help. Trevor L.
Photo Sleuth is saying it’s most likely Iceland. Not sure how to narrow it down further.

Now that Thayer’s Gull is a subspecies of Iceland Gull, rather than a separate species, it makes sense. Immature gulls are so tricky! John Landon
Due to the lack of streaking on the head ,neck and throat, Glaucous may fit. Not sure if that is a local bird for you, might be on the southern edge of it’s raange.
