ejpete
Is this a Northern Harrier, or something else? Sorry for the heavily cropped pics. I couldn't see the bird at all through my viewfinder and had to just point in the general area....snow blind! Upper Michigan, a few days ago. millipede
I'm not great with some of those birds of prey, especially with poor photos. The details are almost jumbled and I feel like I see patches on the wings that would suggest, a rough-legged hawk to me but, not sure I see that in all the pictures... so, I'm not sure. I don't think it's a harrier though. Hopefully someone else has some thoughts.
ejpete
Thanks....I thought it could be a Rough-legged, too, by looking at some of the pics....it's a little confusing. Perhaps my pics just aren't clear enough to tell.
mills0000
Definitely looks like a buteo to me, first thought was Rough-legged, but in these pictures the head seems very dark. I could be convinced of either Red-tailed or Rough-legged.
Trevor L.
I’m seeing more Rough-legged than anything else.
