Mark F
I'm wondering if this could be a Black-throated Hummingbird. Seen a few days ago on the coast near Big Sur. Thanks for your help!
IvoryBillHope
Looks better for Anna’s (pink, flared gorget, pink forehead).
Mark F
Oh, OK. Thanks very much. Seems that Anna’s are by far the more abundant hummingbird in the parts of California that I’ve been to — mostly East Bay and South to Santa Barbara. Or perhaps they are the most tolerant of people and so I just see them more. Having speculated, I guess I’ll go look it up somewhere.

It can also depend on environment; some species are more likely to be seen in cities and towns, while others keep to forests or undeveloped areas.
